flip happy crepe ad

An ad for flip happy crepes in South Austin. There is a new trend for airstream trailers serving gourmet food. The other restaurants {who have also opened other austin locations} are Torchy's Tacos and Hey Cupcake!

Id like to give a shoutout to Torchy's: I had the dirty sanchez last night and loved every bite. {im looking forward to my left over queso tonight.}

Anyway, focus on the veggies.. Do they look good, rotten or both? I photographed them in my apartment one afternoon with a point and shoot camera. Now im left with a bunch of vegtables because the grocery store woulnt let me buy just one of each.

question: did I get their brand right? They didnt really have a set image so I went with something subtle. Im thinking about sending it to flip happy {im sure they get that kind of stuff all the time} for some critique. The food I used was in the category of healthy, not stuff for crepes. Grape crepes? gross.

trust me

This project asked me to illustrate my average schedule with type. I used the image of the old style mic because of the romantic way I feel about journalism and its roots. The words making it up are words like age, beauty, clothes, eat, write and youth. {just a side note: i changed my major and it seems that i've never heard as much about beauty as I have in my most recent electronic media classes. So as a result, I think about my "look," how I'll age, or if I look "camera good" day and night} I used helvetica, because it has millions of options.

Because I know that looks arent all {i hope} people care about, I still think about my reputation as a journalist. enter: "Trust me" I feel like I should add a "." at the end of that statement.. What do you think?

expressive shoes

expressive type. Im not supposed to tell you that this word is sassy. But since I feel like holding your hand, Ill also say its a shoe. definitely my favorite of the three (brilliant idea jackie)

letter{mark}

I havnt decided if this should stay as is. Newton, my type prof, said I should make "h" italic.
What do you think? I used baskerville, my favorite.

Laura Marling gig poster

A gig poster dated 9-19-09, which happens to be my anniversary too. I was inspired by both dawn houser and laura marling's album alas I cannot swim.
I thought I would never, ever associate with someone born in the 90's but I guess its ok ;)
I used magazine paper and a cool font face called cooper. its very austin.
